Project Heartstart

A sudden Cardiac Arrest can happen to anyone at anytime. The best chance for survival following an arrest is with the urgent use of a defibrillator, with this in mind our Club in 2011 decided to raise public awareness and increase the numbers of defibrillators in the Ipswich community.

Many of our own members were apprehensive to taking on the project due to the unknown if in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. The perception is that you may do more harm than good, or I am not skilled or trained to use such a device.

Breaking don the misconceptions by our own members was the first step. An (AED)  or Automatic External Defibrillator is vital in treating a Sudden Cardiac Arrest, they are simple and easy to use, and no harm can be done by using one. Anyone can use one by following the voice instructions from the device.

Our club distributed over 10 units to various community and sporting groups.
