Rotary is one of the world’s premier service organisations with an amazing and excitng future.

A gentleman by the name of Paul Harris had a visionary idea when he started a the first Rotary club in Chicago in 1905. The name came about from rotating the location of meetings in members’ homes.

Rotary International is the world’s first service club organisation. It has grown to more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas.

Our Club, The Rotary Club of Ipswich City, dates back to 1980. We are proud to have helped to expand the reach of Rotary through our club’s involvement in the city of Ipswich and beyond.

The Rotary Club of Ipswich City has a sister club relationship with Nerima-West Rotary Club in Japan.

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. Rotary Club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.

Our club has embraced the energy of being a part of a global initiative that is Rotary.

By joining together as leaders, exchanging ideas and taking action we are making an impact both locally and around the world. We support local nonprofits such as Ipswich Legacy, Ipswich Hospice, Heart Kids and organise events such as the Razzamaztaz Magic show and the Tuffkidz Triathlon.

Our volunteers have contributed both in cash, purchasing of shelter boxes and in kind, toward rebuilding communities devastated by natural catastrophes in Pakistan, Nepal, Japan and New Zealand. We have joined forces to improve healthcare in Fiji, Papua New Guinea by providing financial support for local Facial Maxillary Surgeons and Orthopods to improve people’s lives.

Rotary’s global goal to eradicate polio from the world is now within reach.

We are neighbours, community leaders and global citizens uniting for the common good. With you we can accomplish more.

We invite you to become a member and join this magnificent organisation to make a difference in the world.

Please  join us for a breakfast meeting soon.
